COMPUTER
SCIENCE
Houston Community College's (HCC)
Computer Science program is a two-year transfer program for students
who desire a four-year degree in computer science. Students complete
a maximum of 70 credit hours at HCC and then transfer to complete the
final two years of their degree.
Students learn the fundamentals of
computer science and programming using high level programming
languages such as C++, C#, Java and Assembly Language. Additional
courses to strengthen the student’s background are available in
networking and operating systems. Students have the opportunity to
learn scripting languages, and become familiar with the UNIX
operating system environment.
HCC can provide a less expensive, more
convenient alternative to the lower-division undergraduate Computer
Science (CS) courses offered at four-year schools. HCC's core
CS courses are comparable in scope, content, and rigor to the
undergraduate courses offered at four-year Universities. Some
institutions accept HCC's courses as direct substitutes for their
own, allowing students to take advantage of HCC's lower cost and
multi-campus resources.
