Degrees and Certificates for Year 2006 - 2007

The department offers career training that leads to either employment in a programming field or employment as a technician.

Preparation Prior to College

All high school students preparing to undertake a degree or certificate should prepare by taking English and math courses that prepare them for freshmen college English (ENGL 1301 Composition I) and math (MATH 1314 College Algebra). All of the department's degrees and certificates require ENGL 1301 and MATH 1314. College level English and Math requirements can be accomplished while in high school by taking dual-credit enrollment, advanced placement or CLEP exams. In addition to being academically prepared, high school students should take TECH-PREP courses in high school that have statewide articulation.

Programming

The department offers an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Programming with the student selecting one specialization in Applications Development or Software Administration:

Technician
Studying in this area will prepare you for an entry level career employment.

Associate of Applied Science Degrees

The department offers two AAS degrees in Computer and Information Sciences with specializations in PC Support, UNIX, and in Computer Systems and Networking and Telecommunications - MCSA.

Certificates

 Students should strongly consider completing an AAS degree which will prepare you for a career as a technician. All courses taken in the certificates will apply towards their respective AAS degree specialization. We offer a Certificate as a PC Support Specialist or a Networking Specialist.

Marketable Skills

The various Marketable Skills Achievement Awards offered by the Computer Science Technology Department, provides experienced information technology professionals the opportunity to enhance their skills and/or learn new skills related to the information technology field.
