Guidance for HCCS AAS Graduates to
Department of Human Development and Consumer Sciences Bachelor of Science - Consumer Science & Merchandising
Many individuals who complete an Associate of Applied Science degree plan will seek employment within their degree specialty. However, some students who have initial employment in an information technology field shift their employment emphasis to customer sales and service. It is advantageous for most of these individuals to seek a bachelor degree for long-term employment within the customer sales and service field. The Consumer Science & Merchandising program at the University of Houston allows students to complete additional college training need for advancement in their career path.
The bachelor degree requires 120 semester hours of credit. Those who will graduate with an Associate of Applied Science degree plan for catalog year 2004-2005 from the Computer Science Technology Department at HCCS should be able to satisfy at least 48 of the 120 hours as follows:

Note 1: Some of these hours might be satisfied with COSC 1436 Programming Fundamentals I and/or COSC 1437 Programming Fundamentals II.
Note 2: The Computer Literacy requirement will be satisfied by the BCIS 1405 Business Computer applications course from HCCS.
Note 3: Some additional hours might be granted depending on the Business Electives selected at HCCS.
Computer Science Technology students at HCCS who graduated under degree plans prior to the 2004-2005 catalog should be able to (in most cases) have 48 hours earned at HCCS qualify towards the University of Houston requirements.
