Note 2: Depending on your assessment of skills, placement scores, or high school course work, you may be required to take developmental or other prerequisite courses, such as guided studies, developmental writing, developmental math, MATH 1314, or MATH 1316.

 

If you successfully complete the above set of courses, you will be entitled to the following:

 

·        By law, you will have completed the core curriculum (also known as "the basics") at any public college or university in the state of Texas. 

·        By law, you will have completed the “Field of Study Curriculum in Computer Science” which means that any public college or university in the state of Texas will not require incoming transfer students to repeat courses with essentially the same content.

·        You will earn an Associate of Arts degree from the Houston Community College System.

·        With good grades (at least a 3.0 grade point average), you should be admitted to the university of your choice as a junior, half way to your goal of a bachelor's degree in computer science.

·        You may be eligible for the TEXAS Grant Program, which is designed to cover the total cost of university tuition and fees for students with financial need who earn an associate's degree from a community college.  Check it out: http://www.collegefortexans.com
